Don dishes the dirt
BALONEY!
Yes, Don Brash gave a much-trumpeted speech yesterday, in which he decried the Government as a peddler of baloney. This as part of National’s attack on the integrity of the Government generally and the Prime Minister specifically.
The Herald reports that, in the text of the speech, BALONEY was written in capitals, to remind Don to put emphasis on the word. When he delivered the speech, he didn’t really remember to say the word with emphasis on the three occasions he uttered it, but at least his spin doctors are trying.
But baloney? Who on earth thought that using as your catchphrase a word no New Zealanders ever use would be a good idea? Doesn’t it just scream “out of touch” and “try hard”? If Don insisted on using a piece of North American slang that hasn’t really taken off in New Zealand, he could have gone with something slighter hipper, so at least he had some chance of connecting with younger New Zealanders. The word “whack” is probably said by more Kiwis than is “baloney”. But why not go for the words most Kiwis actually do use? Like “crap” or “bollocks” or “rubbish” or “claptrap” or “drivel”?
I mean, baloney doesn’t even taste good.

anyway she’s a broad church that green one..and i think gummers are accepted for membership…..so nobody should take offence..
btw off topic i know did you know that barbara walters (60 minutes) had an affair with fidel castro back when..? i’ve blogged on it..see, and you said i never cover the trivial stuff…tell adolf..he’d be interested..
