the hypocricies/double-standards around this one are jaw-dropping..eh..?

so..(ahem)..for those looking for solutions to this conundrum..start close to home..and stop chowing down on all those other species of sentient beings..?

Well i would recommend signing the Forest and Bird petition (www.forestandbird.org.nz - currently has around 8000 signatures, needs 15000, so encourage all your friends and family to do the same). Why not write to the Minister of Fisheries, or Mfish and make some noise about it as well.
get stuck in. somebody’s got to.

Some random thoughts:

It is very sad (and increasingly dangerous) that “money”, and its pursuit, is regarded as more important than the diversity of life on this planet.

As far as Society is concerned it really is a case of “out of sight, out of mind”. If someone killed a nursing bitch and left her puppies to starve in mainland Aotearoa/NZ, that person would be prosecuted, and society would be “outraged”. Yet the domestic dog is certainly in no danger of extinction.

As a mother, I grieve for those hungry and confused sea lion pups.

As an inhabitant of this planet, I grieve for the impact that humans have had/are having on this planet, and think the best thing would be if Homo sapiens died out! … and yet I am aware that all life forms are temporary in the cosmic timeframe …

Now, back to the sealions … How can we help?

and it’s really cool..’cos i was wrestling with the complexities of staging a major produuction daily news bulletin….

I enjoy the way, that from time to time, a frogblog thread “descends” into a free flow of ideas.

I hope frog (and the whales) don’t mind too much. It’s just “Greens and friends” at play.

With all the worrying stuff happening on this planet, some light relief and a sense of togetherness with “others who care” is priceless … a now debased word meaning literally “beyond price” (and a concept that some fellow humans seem completely unable to understand, just as they seem unable to understand “Greens”.)
