Fed Farmers looking for a new Chief Executive

Charlie Pederson is advertising in this morning’s Dom Post for a new Chief Executive at Federated Farmers.  I initially thought someone was ‘havin’ a laff’ when I saw that applications were to be submitted to Helen Clark at a 470 phone number (470 are often the first three numbers in a parliamentary precinct phone number).

But it seems it’s for real, and I shouldn’t laugh too much at people who share their name with famous people!  Federated Farmers is a crucial player in the politics of New Zealand’s primary production, so any applicants with a background in sustainable local farming, organics, biodiversity, low-chemical input farming, respect for animal welfare and community values should apply now.

There’s a rumour that Nandor has applied, as a post-parliament career option. Nice move by the Agricultural Spokesperson, huh?

“community values”? This position is more political than I thought!

or rather, seems overly political for a business like Fonterra.
